Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we will work together to recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We will work together to overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing in all phases of your life and your relationships.
Counseling can be beneficial to individuals and couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their lives and relationship. Online sessions are held from the safety of your own home for individuals and couples at a time that is convenient for you through my easy scheduling platform.
This initial call or video session generally lasts 10 to 15 minutes, and is an opportunity to decide if you want to schedule an in-person appointment. It’s normal to feel nervous about this first call. However, rest assured knowing that you’re taking the first step in your mental health journey. This is also an opportunity for you to properly assess fit and feel confident that you found the right therapist.
Session length: 55 minutes. The primary goal of individual therapy is to increase understanding of one's thought and behavior patterns to help increase function and well-being. In therapy, people can learn how to effectively manage stress, interpersonal difficulties and troubling situations.

There are many reasons why you are trying couples counseling.
Not everyone’s problems will look the same, but identifying your specific problems is an important step. You may go into therapy thinking that your problem is all based on intimacy. But we could soon discover that your relationship lacks trust and communication. As you share your concerns, we will look for underlying, connecting themes together.
NOTE: Payments are due within 24-hours of session. Cancellations with less than 24-hours incur a full session charge. All prices for therapy will increase by $25 on 8/1/24. 15-minute consultation, phone/video appointment, and text-based/email communication remain the same price.
Sometimes, you may need additional support in between your sessions. This is charged at a fee of $30/per each 15 minutes of impromptu/unscheduled supportive therapy. This is will be calculated and immediately submitted at the end of the call/video.
Text-based/Email Communication
Communication with your therapist takes thoughtful responses and time/effort to compose. Responses over 150 words and/or back and forth communication are calculated at $10 per/150 word count.

I possess a Masters in Social Work from IUPUI, a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Social Work from University of Hertfordshire, and I possess a Licensed Clinical Social Worker designation (LCSW # 34006283A) which allows me to practice in person and online.
Over the last 25 years, I have had a rich, fulfilling career. I have worked within child and adult protective services at the state and federal levels, community-based mental health, hospital/hospice/assisted living facilities, and private practice. I work both in the United States and Internationally.
The populations I have had the pleasure of serving are adults, children, couples, families, persons affected by the justice system, military personnel and their families, and those leaving extremist organizations.
NO - I do not provide superbills or take insurance. I am fully private pay. The superbill requires that I enter a diagnosis code for treatment. That diagnosis code may be shared with 3rd parties and with your employer at any time based on the communications you have signed with your insurance company. It also requires me to become an OON provider with your insurance company. I elect not to do so.
YES - You CAN use your HSA benefits to take advantage of mental health services.
Not everyone wishes to use their insurance benefits for services for various reasons and this is understandable. Not everyone wants a diagnosis - they just want someone skilled to talk to. The rates quoted above are specifically for these clients.
Sliding Scale Fees: My fee structure is transparent and set at a fairly low cost for the industry to ensure access to as many as possible. For this reason, there are no sliding scale fees offered.
This is genuinely dependent upon the person, the presenting issues, and their own treatment goals. There may be no way to pinpoint exactly how long your treatment may take. However, after we discuss your presenting concerns, I should be able to give you a general estimate based on my experiences with other clients.
This is dependent on the client, their needs, and their treatment goals. Typically, we will have a session once a week or bi-weekly. Further along in the therapeutic process, many clients have expressed they benefit from 1x/mo or check-in appointments to ensure they remain on track with their personal growth.
Therapy isn’t just talking to a therapist in an office or in online therapy. There is work you’ll have to do outside of each session to see lasting change and results. It takes six months to learn a new skill and then six months of actively putting it into practice for it to become a habit. This boils down to - THERAPY IS A COMMITMENT TO CHANGE!
Therapy is often emotionally draining and it can be hard to see progress while you’re in the middle of treatment. I will be able to provide specific examples of how to know treatment is working so you can know what to expect as you move through the process. We will routinely evaluate what your treatment goals were when you began therapy and do regular check-ins throughout the therapeutic relationship to assess how well you are doing with working towards each goal.
Outside of completing homework or tasks between sessions (if assigned), we should talk openly on exercises and reflections you may want to incorporate between each session. This could include taking notes on thoughts and feelings you have during the week.
Many people continue to see a therapist, even if they aren’t a good fit, because they are worried about offending the therapist. As you are interviewing me for the position of your potential therapist, make sure to ask questions so you can assess our fit! What you will find with me is that I'm upfront and I communicate openly. I'm a 'what you see is what you get' kind of person with fairly thick skin! Knowing how to end a patient/therapist relationship can help you feel more comfortable moving forward as well as more empowered in that you continue to always put your needs first.
